Last October, even though faced with very tight deadlines and enormous difficulties in getting our pieces ready for the festival, we managed to get our sculpture to Swell Sculpture Festival 2016 in Currumbin in Queensland. Transport issues, technical problems and health issues did not stop us from installing our sculpture in Currumbin.
We are proud to be a part of the Unseen GC Summer 16-17 with our work Blown Away in which we created an animated 3D render of our physical sculpture which was displayed along with other Augmented Reality work at the Gold Coast art centre.
This work is based on a sculptural work that has been flown and blown around Australia for the last 2 years. It is a visual analogy, where the resemblance to a common flora genus of taraxacum spreading seeds far and wide via the wind reflects the spread of the ideas of resource recovery and sustainability.
The work aims to raise awareness about the amount of waste each of us generate, to making people aware of the environmental costs of that waste.
The form is inspired by the natural world, although, ironically, we (humans) have, by our quest for comfort & convenience, become a major factor in the disappearance of many species within it.
We have been involved in setting up a new space in East Sydney, under the name Intersect Arts. This project involves setting up a pop up creative hub in a disused former clinic building on the corner of Liverpool and Bourke Streets. We are currently taking applications from interested artists, writers and designers who need a space to create and develop their work. Here is a link to the application form
We are proud to have our sculpture The Ring included as part of the Sculpture in the Vineyards 2013 exhibition. It is a piece about fairy rings which we created using recycled materials, solar panels and lights. Some of the pieces have been coated in glow in the dark paint sothat some of the mushrooms would glow in the dark. The lights that are charged by the solar panels during daylight should add highlights to the piece in the darkness of the night. Continue reading
From 15th August to 1st of September, we are having an exhibition at the At The Vanishing Point gallery in Newtown, located at 565 King Street, Newtown. This show is a showcase for our new work this year, which we first experimented with at the memebrain hackfest event this year, organised by DLux Media Arts as part of ISEA 2013. We further developed the concepts we took away from the event and produced several media works out of it. Continue reading
We will be at the Sydney end of Memebrain 2013 (part of ISEA 2013) and will be hacking with other artists on Friday 14 of June. Come see us hack.
Hi people, we are at the moment enjoying our stay at the Gunyah artist-in-residency program. We have been here for a few days and will be here for a few more. It has been great to be here away from the usual hustle and bustle, to be able to concentrate on solving artistic problems. If you want to read more about our stay, watch this space. We are also featured in the Gunyah artist-in-residence blog.
